Thanks for your input, Tyler. I totally agree. With the ridiculous amount of people living alone in the U.S. (read it in NYTimes Mag in December issue), and so many soups listed on diets and detoxes, I think it's important not to ignore the male demo. College too. You're right-- the soups aren't great, but they're definitely affordable. I'm a big propenent for the refresh but I agree, they gotta stay true to the brand.

IMO, Campbell's shouldn't stray too far from their traditional design because that's what makes it great. It's one of those brands that can make you feel nostalgic about your childhood or warm when it's cold outside. Their value is in their brand, not necessarily the soup (because to be honest, the soup isn't that good). If they go too modern with any brand refresh, it might hurt them in the long run.

Another thing to consider is the target audience. Most people who buy soups are women (no hard data on that, but it seems like in most soup marketing and advertising you see them trying to appeal to moms or women on a diet, etc.). They definitely need to tap into that demographic to be successful in the future as a brand. Or, as part of their brand refresh, try to uncover how they can appeal more to men as well. They've tried to do that with the Campbell's Chunky soups, but has it worked? I'd like to see some results.

Thanks, Javi! You got down to the heart of the matter :) Although it would be so fun to be a robotic humanoid for a day, Tron has been a blast. I can't believe I've never seen that film... makes it even funnier now. Pretty interesting too that Disney just bought Marvel. I'm gonna go look that up immediately.
P.S. you can't have one without the other, right?

Mandetron,
When I read this, the first thing that came to my head was the movie "Tron". The 1982 American science fiction film by Walt Disney Pictures. As I read on, I was interested to see how the evolution of your nickname came to be. Reverting to you past is never a bad thing. Yeah, back when we were all teenagers we might of thought this was weird and dorky but in all, this is what makes us who were are. If it wasn't for this characteristic in us, we would all be robotic instead of Tron!. To be honest I think its funny and original. Keep it up!
p.s what side are you on? Autobot or Decepticon
